What Do Couples Argue About in Bed?

by

In a perfect world, all husbands and wives would sleep peacefully together without suffering through disturbances that keep one or the other awake at night. Unfortunately, in the real world, many people have different issues and habits that interfere with their partners’ sleep.

Pick a Side

Interestingly, many participants cited arguments regarding dominion over a specific side of the bed. While 80 percent of respondents said they always slept on the same side of the bed every night; more than ten percent said they weren’t happy about their situation, with some citing concerns about sleeping too close to radiators and others complaining about their views of the television.

Less Trivial Concerns

While some people bemoan their positions on the bed, others have greater reasons to complain. Too often, husbands and wives are kept awake by loud snoring: a problem that can make it nearly impossible for sleep to occur. Many times, this can actually have a serious impact on a relationship, causing one partner to resent the other.

A Reason for Concern

Interestingly, research suggests that a co-sleeping problem related to snoring often predicts the presence of sleep apnea. In fact, a recent study found that, when a partner awakens a co-sleeper due to snoring, it indicates the presence of sleep apnea 84 percent of the time.

Sleep apnea doesn’t just cause snoring; it is linked to deadly health problems, such as cancer, heart disease and diabetes. If your snoring has been keeping a loved one awake at night, it may be time to get tested for sleep apnea.
